Janet Pettit Memorial

There are several plans formulating as memorials for Janet Pettit, NNP who died so tragically and unexpectedly on August 8th.

Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto where she practiced for many years is planning a memorial garden outside the NICU where future generations of nurses, babies and families may be comforted by the sights of nature.

NCANN (Northern California Association of Neonatal Nurses) is planning to create a scholarship in Janet’s honor.  Janet was an active and long-standing member of NANN’s original, founding chapter.

A HUGE loss to Neonatal Nursing

On August 9th, we heard news of the loss of Dr. Janet Pettit, RN, CNS, NNP, DNP.

Janet Pettit was a true colleague in neonatal nursing.

For those of you who didn’t know her personally, if you google her name, you will find many awards and accolades for her contributions to neonatal vascular care, particularly.  She is a co-author of the PICC Guidelines from NANN, published many articles in Advances, Neonatal Network, Journal of Infusion Nursing and others.

She worked as an NNP and CNS at Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto as well as working as an assistant manager for Kaiser, also in Modesto.  Besides that, she consulted for various entities but primarily for B-D.

Beyond that, though, many of you have seen her thoughtful and practical contributions to the list serve.  This will all be missed.  She takes a great deal of experience, advise and patience with her.
